The Cliffside Park Early Learning Center is located at 263 Lafayette Avenue in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. The school is home to 250 preschool and Kindergarten students. Our student population is extremely diverse and multi-cultural. The children participate in classrooms where a certified teacher and classroom assistant engage 4- and 5-year old children in high quality activities that produce short- and long-term positive effects on their cognitive and social development.
The Preschool has adopted the High/Scope Approach to Early Childhood education. In this approach, adults and children share control. Recognizing that the power to learn resides in the child, the focus is on active learning. When we accept that learning comes from within, a critical balance is achieved in educating young children. The role of the adult is to support and guide young children through their active learning experiences. Active learning influences every aspect of the work done with children and in turn forms the core of the preschool curriculum. The High/Scope approach to education enables young children to take initiative and develop their social, intellectual, and physical capacities.
Our Kindergarten curriculum is aligned to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. Children focus heavily on a balanced literacy program and mathematics. The staff and administration are committed to providing a solid foundation so all children will achieve future success.
