Looking Ahead...

2007-08

The 2007-08 budget includes funding from Governor Corzine dedicated to servicing Cliffside Park's changing population.  The state recognizes the necessity for increased revenue to allow our district to implement programs to address our needs.  The additional funding will enable us to continue offering our community full-day Pre-K and Kindergarten programs.  Please be reminded that we are very fortunate to be only one of a few school districts in our state offering both programs for our families.

Through our after-school homework and enrichment programs, in-class literacy coaching and test prep programs for the NJASK, GEPA and HSPA, the district has experience a significant increase in standardized test scores during the past few years.  Innovative budgeting by our board has made theses exceptional programs possible.

The Board of Education and district administration also remain committed to providing increased access to outstanding programming for all students, including those with special needs.  Therefore, the 07-08 budget allows for an additional full-time learning disability specialist to provide essential services on a timely basis.  Also, increasing the nursing staff will ensure that each school will now have its own full-time nurse.  Finally, expanding the number of content area specialists will facilitate remediation in Math and Language Arts in our elementary schools.  World Language will also be offer once again in our elementary schools with video programs for grades K-2 and in-class instruction by a certified World Language teacher in grades 3-6.

Cliffside Park will also continue to keep pace with state-of-the-art technologies.  Last year, the Board of Education upgraded the computer facilities in all schools.  This year, we will continue to maintain our facilities, hardware, software and Internet services to provide our students with 24/7 access to a wide array of digital resources, software libraries and databases.

As we move forward, during the 07-08 school year, staff members and administrators will be revising and reevaluating our K-8 curriculum.  Once completed, we will enter a Five-Year Cycle Program of evaluating curriculum, textbooks and supplemental materials on an on-going basis.  As we continue to prepare our students to excel in the global economy of tomorrow, we are grateful for the continued support and dedicated partnership of our parents and community.
