Welcome To The High School
Middle State Association of Colleges and Schools:
CPHS entered the process of seeking renewal of its accreditation by the Middle State Association of Colleges and Schools in November 2002. Renewal of accreditation must be applied for by the high school every five years. The Middle States Association (MSA) is a regional organization, established in 1887, providing leadership in school improvement in the United States, and schools around the world. MSA and Cliffside Park are committed to the fact that “accreditation responds to the public’s demands for improved quality and greater accountability for institutions serving society’s needs.”
Cliffside Park chose a relatively new method or protocol, called Accreditation for Growth (AFG), to meet the criteria for Middle States Accreditation. The association states that “the Accreditation for Growth process emphasizes what is possible and desired for the future with the measure of success being the results produced by the school.” AFG will take more than a year to implement, during which time the administration, staff, student body and community will be meeting regularly to help the school focus on growth and change as a functional part of the community.
As part of the community, the school involved residents of Cliffside Park and Fairview, including parents and students, in the process. One such way was to distribute, via the mail, of opinion surveys to about 400 community members to obtain a statistical sampling of ideas and attitudes regarding the school.
In April 2004, a committee comprised of administrators and teachers spent three days at our school evaluating our self-study. Cliffside Park High School’s self study which began in November 2002 was under the direction of a planning team. The planning team consisted of:
