On Sunday, January 22nd, a Cliffside Park High School Robotics team won first place for the second time in two months.   This time it was FTC Team 251, the Mech-alodons who were allied with teams from Edison and North Coventry, Pennsylvania who took home the first place trophy.  The event was held at Hightstown High School and was called the Snow Day Showdown, which was ironic because it had been moved to Sunday because of snow on Saturday.

In December, Cliffside Park team 5212 won a first place at Livingston High School in the RoboJoust event.

This year’s robotics challenge involves, dumping racquet balls out of containers, placing balls in crates, and rolling a bowling ball up a ramp for bonus points.  Mr. Carcich and Mr. Rappaport have been busy since the beginning of the school year teaching students building skills, and an engineering computer program named Labview.

Each robotics team consists of ten students.  The graduating seniors will go on to engineering programs in college.  The returning students are eager to tackle next year’s challenge.
